BARRETT NAMED TAXPAYER HERO
WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman J. Gresham Barrett (SC-03) was named a "Taxpayer Hero" and given a grade of 98 percent from the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste (CCAGW). Every year, the CCAGW issues a rating to each Member of Congress that indicates his or her commitment to reducing or controlling government spending.
“Our nation’s $13 trillion debt and struggling economy proves that now, more than ever, Congress needs to cut spending and start acting in a more fiscally responsible manner. I remain committed to reducing government waste and ensuring that Congress spends American taxpayer dollars in a common sense way,” said Barrett. “I’m honored to be named a Taxpayer Hero by the Council of Citizens Against Government Waste and believe it is important to have these kinds of organizations to hold lawmakers accountable for spending decisions they make.”
